VALSTAGNA, FINESTRON, MASSICCIO DEL GRAPPA
From Valstagna in the locality of Carpanè, the Alta Via high altitude Great War hiking trail climbs the valley of the Brenta to Col Moschin, where there is a stone in memory of the fallen; continue over Col Fenilo to the Roberto Favero Great War Museum near the Hotel San Giovanni. The itinerary continues along Italian Alpine Club path CAI 940, over Col del Miglio and Col d’Anna to the locality of Finestròn.
From the belvedere at Finestròn towards the Brenta valley and the eastern part of the Asiago Plateau the trail goes on by Italian Alpine Club path CAI 920 along the bare ridges of the Col della Bretta, Monte Asolone, Monte Pertica to the Grappa War Memorial.
There are various paths of remembrance from the Sacred Mountain to the Altar of the Fatherland (to be mentioned particularly is the Via degli Eroi – “Road of the Heroes”) that connect the Grappa massif to the River Piave across Col dell’Orso, Monte Valderoa and Monte Spinoncia to the locality of Alane di Piave.

How to get there
By car
You arrive at the memorial area from the centre of Bassano del Grappa, which is reached by the Valsugana SS47 state road from north and south (Trento-Padova), state road SS248 from Vicenza or the A31 Valdastico motorway to Thiene and then the state road to Bassano (Gasparona) from the west or by state road SS348 from Treviso to Cornuda and then provincial road SP248 from the east.
The top of Monte Grappa is reached by the Cadorna provincial road, SP148, open all the year round, which crosses the massif from south to north. From the south it starts from Romano d’Ezzelino and from the north from Seren del Grappa. From the west take the SS47 Valsugana state road at the level of the SS50 Primolano bis state road to Seren del Grappa.
By train
Rail: on the Vicenza side, the stations of Bassano del Grappa and Primolano are on the Venice-Bassano-Trento line; there are also connections from Padua, Vicenza and Treviso.
The stations on the Montebelluna-Belluno-Calalzo lines are Montebelluna and Feltre; there are also stops at Pederobba-Cavaso-Possagno and Alano-Fener-Valdobbiadene.

Parking
There is a big car park at the Bassano mountain hut on the Cadorna provincial road.
Resting places
Hotel San Giovanni, mountain hut at the locality of Lepre and the Scarpon mountain hut.
Opening hours
The Cima Grappa War Memorial is open every day of the year including public holidays,
while the cinema, museum and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele III are open in the morning from 09.00 to 11.30 and in the afternoon from 13.30 to 16.30 except for Mondays and 24, 25, 26 and 31 December, 1 January, 25 April, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, 1 May and 15 August.
